This afternoon I went to Starbucks to have one of their most excellent prosciutto e ricotta sandwiches – it pairs so nicely with a venti Caffè Americano.
When what to my wandering eyes should appear…but a new CD by Neko Case at the checkout counter.
I must confess: I don’t know much about her – other than that I enjoy the hell out of soaring along with her voice as she sends it sailing along the songs she sings.
Middle Cyclone is the name of the CD.
Not only is the music fantastic, the liner notes are fun to read – especially the last two pages.
The neatest thing of all is the last track. It’s over half an hour long and it’s a recording of…a blissful evening soundscape, complete with crickets.
I’m going to listen to it again on the way home from work.
Traffic? Yeah, but that’s okay. Neko and her crickets will keep me company.
