I saw the trailer for the new Bladerunner 2049 movie that’ll come out next year. It made me purr. You don’t learn much from the trailer but it has that feel. I can tell it’s going to be moody. It’ll pay homage to Ridley Scott’s iconic masterpiece.
Which came out 30 years ago.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I own a collection of Bladerunner DVDs. And when I’m feeling wistful or uneasy about the future, I’ll load up all my versions of the motion picture soundtrack. Vangelis isn’t listed in the quick blip of new movie credits, but it the music in the background sounded Vangelis-ish.
Cast aspersions in my direction if you like. I’m not much of a Star Wars fan. I did see the original movie the day it came out. Sometimes I wish I was more into Star Wars. I’d have been rewarded with sequels and prequels and spin-offs up the wazoo.
It took 30 years for this next Bladerunner installment. But it was worth the wait.
